This is a conference of the European Networking Programme "Harmonic and Complex Analysis and Applications" HCAA of the European Science Foundation.

Organizers:
University of Bergen (UiB) and Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).

Organizing Committee: Alexander Vasil'ev (coordinator) (UiB), Hans Munthe-Kaas (UiB), Arne Stray (UiB), Henrik Kalisch (UiB), Irina Markina (UiB),  Kristian Seip (NTNU), Yurii Lyubarskii (NTNU), Björn Gustafsson (KTH, Stockholm)

Objectives: The purpose of the Conference is to bring together both experts and novices in Analysis  with experts in Mathematical Physics, Mechanics and adjacent areas of applied sciences and numerical analysis. The participants will present their results and discuss further developments of the frontier research exploring the bridge between Complex, Real Analysis, Potential Theory, PDE and modern topics of Fluid Mechanics and Mathematical Physics. The Conference will feature invited expository 1 hour lectures by prominent mathematicians, plenary 45 min. talks and short 30 min. communications. One of the goals of this meeting is to discuss possibilities of further cooperation, networking and promotion of mobility of senior and young researchers and research students.

Topics: Topics of the conference will include vast scope of Analysis and its interplay with Mathematical Physics, Fluid Mechanics and applications. In particular, geometric analysis, numerical geometric integration, potential theory, spaces of analytic functions and operator theory, 2D quantum gravity and string theory, classical and stochastic Löwner evolution, free boundary problems, integrable systems.

Proceedings: We plan to edit a special volume of the Conference Proceedings at Birkhäuser. Both survey and research papers are acceptable.

Exhibition: There will be a Birkhäuser book exhibition during the conference at a special desk.

Financial support: A small amount of grants will be available for younger (under 35) researchers and graduate students as well as for participants with fSU full-time affiliation or participants affiliated in one of the developing countries. Applicants should provide a brief CV (at most 2 pages A4) including degrees and list of publications during the period 2001-2007. Junior researchers and students applicants should obtain at least one recommendation letter explaining their suitability for the event, and should write a few lines explaining their interest. Applications shoud be sent to the Organizers before January 20, 2007.

Location:
The Conference will be held in the nice scenic Fleischer's Hotel in Voss. Voss is a municipality in the county of Hordaland, Norway. The main centre of population is the town Voss or Vossevangen. Voss is situated on the main road and railway line from Oslo to Bergen, about 100 kilometres east of Bergen. Voss sits in a spectacular location being surrounded by snow-capped mountains, forests, lakes and fast flowing white water rivers. The hotel has an excellent restaurant that takes use of all that nature has to offer and well-equipped hotel rooms and apartments.
See more information at http://www.fleischers.no/index2.htm
THE HOTEL IS ALREADY BOOKED FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS SO IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO BOOK IT YOURSELF.

Prices: Hotel prices are
Single occupation:1280 NOK (approx 157 Euro) per day per person;
Double occupation: 1080 NOK (approx 133 Euro) per day per person.
These figures include overnight, full board and the part of conference services.
Prices are given per person, not per room.

Weather:
In general, the weather is not overly warm, and a brisk breeze and brief rainstorms are possible anytime. Nights can be chilly, even in summer. Its many epithets include "Regnbyen" (Rainy City), due to its 200 days of rain a year. See the information about RAINS in Bergen. As Bergen is one of the rainiest places in Europe don't forget to pack some jacket and umbrella. The weather can change in seconds, and it is always a good idea to bring clothes and equipment for any type of weather in that season.
